Hi there,

 

So question is rather simple , how should i remove an old thermal paste (i plan to do it at least due to changin a cooler) from CPU? I read smth about usin alcohol but dont which one and if you guys know some great distributons i would be greatfull.

Atleast 70% Isopropyl Alcohol.

 

Use it with a tissue.

Also coffee filter because it is not made of fibres(don't buy coffee filter if you don't have any).

90-99% isopropyl alcohol and coffee filters.

And where i can find such high % of isopropyl alco?

 

I use 70% from CVS and it's always worked fine. Seems to be the most common %. The higher you go, it IS harder to find, yes.

I'd assume closer to 99% can only be at medical supply stores or something. Never found it at CVS/Walmart/Big retailers

 

Maybe home depot? Dunno

I went to my local Dollar General and got it. I'm sure a Rite Aid would probably have it as well.
