I was really curious to try Mac on my HTPC and I found this: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/143976-unibeast-install-os-x-yosemite-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

Now, I OWN a macbook so this thread shouldn't really be considered as piracy, at least I don't think so in the event I'll ask a mod to delete it.

So, as anyone tried this? Also is it safe? I mean is it like those cracked/modified OS images full of loggers, adware and other malwares?

Since you are getting the OS image from your own computer, you won't have to worry about viruses/crap, and the Unibeast program is fine too. I've used it before, when it works its great, but when it doesn't its a real headache. I would look up your PC components on Tonymacx86 to see if people have reported issues(or success), but I would only do a hackintosh if you have the time, don't mind troubleshooting, and don't need your computer to run(you never know, shit sometimes happens).

Lots of people have tried that (at least people I know)

It's basically third party software that make the OS think you PC is a Mac

It's against Apple's EULA, but people who do Hackintosh don't really care

Just search a up video about it on YouTube and you're bound to find a guide or review

Problems with it include:

-Optimization is slightly lacking for some applications

-You need to have the parts specified

Here's the buyer's guide for the tested compatible parts: http://www.tonymacx86.com/building-customac-buyers-guide-august-2015.html

This is the link to the "main" website for information: http://www.hackintosh.com/

If you have a mac already a hackintosh isn't worth it, as someone said already once you finally get it up an running (sometimes is seamless other times not) every update you take a risk of something breaking, this isn't that big of a problem if you have a back of the working OS but it gets time consuming trying to figure out what the update broke and constantly re installing the back up to figure it out.

But this is just my HTPC, it's not my main computer, it's used only to watch videos and listen to music.

So, you won't be doing updates? Why do you need OSX on your HTPC? You can just wait awhile to update until u check tonymac and get the all clear for updates or someone comes out with a fix but i mean, it's just very inconvenient, It's fun to do but get's old pretty quick.

It's half the way between Windows and Linux.

No crap autoupdates, data gathering, etc. like Windows, more game/software support than Linux.
