Hey guys,

I recently explored a strange issue with my ram usage. When my PC is in idle I have a ram usage of 10gb and when I start Skype, Chrome (with many tasks) and Steam then it's rising up to 13,5GB.

Thats why I think my games lagged yesterday. Now I saw some strange numbers in the task manager (see pic down below).

Somehow I'm wasting many gigs of RAM, but dunno how.

Thx for help!

First thing to mind, check your Pagefile settings; you've got 7.3GB allocated. Any reason why you've got it that high? Try setting it to System Managed, see what happens.

Are you on Windows 10, or 8.1?

If you are on Windows 10, like me, there have been reports of memory leak issues.

Nonetheless, check what is using all your RAM.

  1. Task Manager > Users
  2. Look at the memory usage
  3. Expand the clicking on the little ">" and see what programs are using the most resources

  1. Task Manager > Details
  2. Arrange the Memory usage from High to Low
  3. See what processes are taking up your memory

Post those screenshots if you can (or what).

I got 8 gigs of ram and after a while of browsing on chrome and playing games my rig is using 30% at idle. Not sure why it does this.
