Drivers (AMD Vs NVIDIA)

Go to solution Solved by SkilledRebuilds,

There's no clear cut way to determine if one will give you more or less problems than the other. Both companies make fuckups and have software issues, so asking which is better/worse is pointless imo.

It's more a case of how much cash you have to spend on a card which is more important.

^THIS^

When people complain about "Drivers" its usually about the lacking Dual-GPU game profiles or not being updated fast enough for a recent game to enable SLI/Crossfire.

Not 'usually' about the actual stability....

AMD had BSOD's and horrid times with the early 2014 14.1 drivers and onwards a few releases when putting Mantle support out there, as far as stability issues go, since then pretty much my AMD cards are updated EVERY driver release and they are chugging along fine, Omega was a Godsend though, new features are good, as are the post Omega drivers.

Same for my GTX 970, a few weeks ago maybe a little longer they had shocking drivers sets (one after another) and I had to go back WEEKS to get a good one, although now their latest ones are fine for me, both companies have random issues at random times.

And this wont be the last time it happens for either company.

Plus then on top,..... PC's with random user softwares throwing spanners in the works time to time.

I am planning to buy an amd graphics card but I don't know which company has the most stable drivers. I heard that amd drivers are getting good but nvidia drivers are getting bad. Does anyone have any insight on both amd and nvidia drivers. Please could some one provide me with information on both drivers.

Drivers.....you can't expect companies to have stable drivers all the time. I heard atm that it's Nvidia drivers that are having problems. Overall Nvidia has better "stable" drivers, but it's not atm. But justifying a card by driver stability isn't as important as performance/heat/power consumption.

oh mother of god

yup all you are about to here is "amd has the worst drivers blah blah blah" with no valid reason other than underutilization of dx11 dtivers and how dx11 really favors nvidia drivers but when dx 12 comes out amd will be better honestly everything about drivers right now is just a pissing competition amd shows promise though

Do not base buying a graphics card on who has better drivers. Both companies swap "Worst drivers / Best drivers" every month or so.

Get the most powerful card you can in your budget, ignore drivers completely until it's time to install them :3

I'll try not to fanboy or anything but NVidia has done a great job in recent months releasing game ready drivers as soon as games release where I don't think AMD has done quite as good of a job.

Well when people where whining about amd drivers, I had an AMD r9 6970 and didn't have any issues at all. Now I have a gtx 970 and had a gtx 770 before that and can't complain about either. Drivers aren't an issue anymore. My deciding factor 2weeks ago for gtx 970 vs r9 390 was simply that 970 has better heat and power consumption.

Heat for obvious reasons and power, because I don't have anyone to pay my electricity bills.

I don't overclock GPUs so stock stats are important to me and 970 won for that price range.

Go with price[emoji14]erformance if you don't care about the above

In General -  Don't forget to consider the feature set of each GPU too, Shadowplay for example,... helps so many people, and I use it EVERY day.

VSR/DSR is great and good to have on both sides,... but its something to consider, against the usage of the machine.

No matter what I do, shadow play won't work for me, which is a shame.

Didn't work on the 770 either and that was a completely different system. Never really understood it.

Seems clicking record won't do anything, regardless of the key I bind it to [emoji14] so I generally don't consider it. I d YouTube videos but have a bandicam license for that

Very valid points though
