I have an older socket 775 system running a Q6600 and 2 GTX 460s.  It used to have an SSD in it but I recently pulled that out to add to the couple in my main rig.  Since I pulled it out I'm just using an old Maxtor HDD that I had laying around.  When it had the SSD everything worked fine and SLi was up and running no problems.  Since the swap, every time I try to enable SLi, the Nvidia control panel stops responding and the driver crashes and reverts my resolution back to 800x600.  I'm using the latest driver.  I use Geforce Experience to stay up to date.  I've tried doing several clean installs on several different HDDs to see if maybe it's some sort of hardware fault.  Both cards worked perfectly pre SSD removal.  Am I missing something here?  Any tips or advice is welcome.  Thanks in advance and just say so if you need any more info in order to help diagnose this.

I think it's about time you upgrade your rig lol,

No but for real, what's your PSU? And have you tried running each card by its own to see if they both function and while you're at it make sure both are clocked the same

You sure you didn't yank anything while swapping out the SSD?

Haha, this is just a secondary one I have hooked up to my TV for fun and HTPC stuff.  My PSU is a Rocketfish 900 watt.  I know it's a cruddy brand but the thing has been rock solid for the years I've had it.  I have a PSU tester and it passes with flying colors.  The system runs fine too so I doubt it's a problem with that.  As far as running them individually..no I' haven't resorted to that yet.  The system recognizes them both and even prompts me that it is capable of SLi.  I'll try that if swapping the SLi bridge doesn't do the trick.

Or try clock them both the same

How many PCI slots you got? try moving em around, and double check the manual to make sure SLI is available in those slots.

Like I said originally...I've had SLi working in this rig before.  Literally only removed an SSD.  I just gave up on the 460s and installed an older 7950 GX2 which is technically SLi as well and it works fine :/ Guess I'll just deal with that.
