I normally don't use the home network to transfer files but today I am getting a few movies for a trip. We have normal gigabit networking no 10 gigabit sadly. I am getting transfer speeds of about 9 MB/s which seems pretty slow to me. Any settings on my end (client side) I can check to see if I can get it to go faster? Don't have access to the server right now.

Why would that be? I am transferring off WD black enterprise drives to WD green raid 1

Well, that might tell you. Green's aren't built for speed (though I don't think they'd be -that- slow.), especially in RAID1, since it's duplicating the data across the drives.

Using greens since they are cheap and it is on a drive I rarely use. Task manager is showing only 10% disk usage. So think it is not the disks no idea what it could be.

Have you verified that you are indeed running at 1gbit in both ends?

Unmanaged switches often negotiate the same speed across the whole network, matching the slowest unit connected.

Also - are you running through a 10/100 switch or router somewhere? - then that might be your problem.

Doubt any router we have is that slow since they are fairly new (less than 2 years) as for unmanaged I have no clue since I don't admin the network will check though.

Many ISP routers are still 10/100 and many soho and enterprise routers are aswell.

No I know for a fact they are gigabit since I am the once who bought them. Unless the wrong thing was delivered they are gigabit. Plus who still buys 10/100 other than governments
