ethernet cable stopped working

My ethernet cable suddenly stopped working when i turned on my pc this morning. The light isnt on so i assumed the port is dead. Is there any way to confirm this? In the meantime i am using the artheros network adapter which is really slow.

Well you can change a cable to see if your cable problem. You also can check if not your cable problem like trying cable with a laptop or another computer. If it broken you can just buy a new one for like 2 dollars. To be fact i have collected like over 20 Ethernet cables over the years from ISP and modern. Just replaced a new cable and try.

Yea, but you can always try reinstalling drivers... that might work. Look like it port is broken, if it under warranty you can get it RMA or you can get addon PCIE Ethernet card.
