OK so long story short i have 3 4gb ram sticks and 1 8gb ram stick. My motherboard is a asus p8z77-v le and my cpu is an i7 3770k. I plug in my 8gb and 2 of my 4gb to get 16gb but windows only detects 12gb. I plug all 4 ram sticks in my motherboard but it still only detects 12gb. Each ram stick works fine in single channel mode. Anyway to get more than 12gb of ram without buying more ram? i also tryed using diffrent slot configurations.

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

this is the reason mix&match isnt always a good idea i guess.

lol

your RAM might just not all woakr together, sounds like one of the 4GB sticks doesn't like it. In any case, mixing and matching ram isn't advisable for this reason.

1 of the 4gb ram stick loves it and the other 2 are like fuck this shit im out

You won't be needing more than 12gb in most scenarios. Anyway, Interesting Location. :D

lol..

also i need more than 12gb becuase photoshop.

IIRC Windows 8 only supports up to 16GB of RAM so it's not using that last stick.

2 sticks arent working. 12 not 16..

number of sticks =/= number of channels

it's a dual channel board that can use up to 4 DIMMs

Anyway, did your previous sticks had an XMP profile? If so clear CMOS first and try again.

no XMP profile.

Try bringing all the channels to the same timings and upping the voltage. Also try calling the manufacturer about it.
