Need some more info.

1.  What are you using the PC for?

2.  Resolution of your monitors?

3.  Need Windows?

4.  What 750W PSU do you have?

5.  Need Keyboard/mouse/speakers/headset?

6.  Is that $1500 before taxes or after?

This is $1470 after taxes.  What would you want to change?  You can save on RAM by going with 8GB.  You can get a cheaper case.  You can get a cheaper motherboard.

No one needs an i7 for gaming, an i5 will get the job done. Instead you can put that money into the GPU. Your cooler is expensive for a 120m, you can get the 100i GTX or an X61 and have better temps and overclock.

Stop, you better plan for a new monitor or there is really no point in the 980Ti.  Not that the 980Ti at 1080p is always a bad idea, but I question the quality of you monitors.... no offense.  :)

Why are you paying more for the Skylake CPU and DDR4 RAM?

Why is your pricing in USD?

I would really lean more towards your overall gaming experience with a new main monitor:

$1425 before taxes:

We have all started out the same way at some point.  Give yourself credit for exploring the option of building it yourself.

The 980Ti at $1500 is possible in the US market, not Canada... sorry.  An $800 GPU is more than half your budget.  With taxes, $900.

I personally don't like the Fractals with windowed side panels.  If you like the syle, fine.  It is a noise reducing case that does not have optimal airflow.  Adding the window means you lose out on the main feature:  noise reduction.

any other similar performance-wise?

GTX 970 or a R9 390 is probably the direction you want.  Do NOT spend $600 on a GTX 980.

The extra $200 could go to a new monitor:  http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umkg7aa001

or maybe a 500GB SSD and a mouse:

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz75e500bam

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-mouse-910004074

An i7 won't net you much of a gaming boost at all.  You could try for a bigger CPU cooler IF you want to push the CPU overclock as far as it can go.

It really is up to you.  The parts I picked are great at their price, paying more is a waste.  $200 more for a GTX 980 is not worth it.

how good would that pc be? (the one you compiled)

I would be jealous of it :D .  As far as gaming PCs go, it would be in the higher end of the spectrum.

Uhmmm, play any game at really high settings.  The most demanding games would require you to tinker with the settings a little to get a 60+ FPS constant.

To put it is perspective:  No matter how much you spend, there will be games that you cannot max:

The Phanteks is the best case (value-wise) in that price range... but you have to like the style as well.

Corsair 300R (windowed), NZXT S340... depends on what you like... Fractal Design S?

@Gene Sargent  I would recommend a good mouse before a keyboard.
