An r9 390x is showing the same performance as a GTX 980 in the first DX12 tests, so it does prove to be really promising in the future. The R9 390 is only a little slower. It's also slightly better in performance than a GTX 970 in current games, but requires a little more watts from your power supply.

If you already have that 600W EVGA power supply get a Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970. If you don't, get a better PSU (like an XFX 650W) and then it's Sapphire Nitro R9 390 or MSI Gaming R9 390 all the way.

It's widely considered the best overclocking 970.

That is a good card too but it does seem more pricey...

But its EVGA, FTW+ and acx 2.0+

Why should I get it over the 390?

Nvidia drivers are better and its a great overclocking using Maxwell  witch means lower heat and power usage

How exactly are nvidia drivers better?

Anyway, get the Sapphire Nitro R9 390. It's has overall better performance, more than enough VRAM and the Sapphire cooler is doing a fantastic job in keeping the card both cool and quiet.

From salty to bath salty in 2.9 seconds

Drivers? No. Heat and power usage? Yes.

Its not the best 970 yet its still more pricey...

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case
