Hi guys just a quick question

I bought a Nexus 7 and it came with a wall adapter, 5.2V and 1.35A

But I also have a Patriot Fuel+ which as a 5.0V and 2.5A output. Could I use this to charge my Nexus 7 or would it damage it?

And since I bought it, I've been using an iPad charger to charge my Fuel+ which has a voltage of 5.1V, but the Fuel+ says on it, "Input 5V"

Have I been damaging my Fuel+ by using the iPad charger to charge it?

On the google support page it says "Use only the USB charging unit and micro USB cable that come with your Nexus 7. Using a different charging unit or cable may damage your tablet."

Is the part about the micro USB cable true or is that just to make me buy an "official" cable if this one breaks?

Thanks for reading.

Yes you can use the Patriot Fuel+ the phone regulates the charging current that can be drawn from the battery pack and the pack only supplies the 2.5Amps as a maximum amount if the device needs or wants that much.

I'm asking about the voltage though.

The Fuel+ only outputs 5.0V whereas the wall adapter that came with the Nexus 7 outputs 5.2V

Less voltage or amps won't really cause a problem usually other than not being able to charge it, though most 5V chargers state 5V but when under load are usually the 5.1-5.2V which is pretty normal.

Thanks, that about answers my question!

And what about the micro USB cable, the support page says using one other than the one that came with the Nexus 7 can cause damage, but the cable isn't guna make a difference is it?

Umm marketing gimmick to get you to buy their own cables, as long as it's not a super long cable any good quality micro USB cable will do the job, there are ones such as 28/24AWG cables that have larger wires for the 5V conductors if your using a high current devices or a very long cable.

that's what I thought.

Using the short cable that came with the Fuel should be fine then I suppose
