GTX 960 fan problem?

Go to solution Solved by JerkyMcDilerino,

The fan keeps stopping on me unless I have EVGA's precision tool up and running. Otherwise it runs fine. Any idea?

It's not a fan problem, it just a feature that all 3rd parties NVIDIA introduce something call " 0db fan" that allow fans to turn itself off if the GPU temp is safe. But it kick in like around 45% when the GPU temperature reach 65C - 66C.

Nope. Have it set based off of temp; anything above 20C should be running the fan.

It probably has the idle fan thing on. Put it under load and wait and see if the fans spin up.

Got to 51C and didn't kick in.

Hmm... Get it to like 60C or 70C. Don't let it go over 80C though, that's starting to reach the limits.

I generally have open hardware monitor open when playing so I can see it at all times.

Well, I know for a fact that the 0dB fan mode is what you're talking about. Open both and once the card hits over 60C-65C the fans will kick on.
