When I built my rig, I couldn't really afford a nice motherboard and I just went with a cheapy GA-Z87-HD3 from Gigabyte. I got a 4770k CPU and planned on overclocking, but I quickly realized my board can't really do anything at all. So, I ended up leaving my CPU at stock under H100i cooling. Now that I have the money, would it be worth it for me to upgrade to a Z97X-UD5H-BK? I want to have the ability to SLI in the future, so I will definitely need a board swap if I ever want to do that as my board doesn't support it. I just don't know if it would really be worth the money for me to buy a new mobo right now.

It's a decent board - however, if your plan is to overclock the CPU further, you may also find that the CPU doesn't go above your current speed due to the silicon.

Yeah I know about the silicon lottery and such, but I feel like I could probably get a better OC with a cleaner/beefier power delivery system. My board is basically one of their H series board with a Z chipset slapped on it, so the power delivery is pretty horrid if I'm honest.

4770k tends to have overheat issue that's why intel came out with the devil's canyon the 4790k. So even you upgraded the overclocks might disappoint you.
