GTX950 VS R9 270X

Kestrel98

950 migh be equal to the older 7950 because its newer, but there are no benchmark that showing 950 outperform the real r9 280

R9 280 and 7950 are one and the same - it's a rebrand - no way it can outperform a card that's better than the 670 >.>

Don't go with specs on paper, nvidia always have an edge in real life performance, if you can extend budget go for 960 else 950 is good

lmao defensive. Nice. No, just apply some critical thinking to the benchmarks you're posting. Do they make logical sense? Maybe it's possible that Nvidia could have a 960 and a 950 and not have a difference between them. I find it unlikely though, they like money.

i was personaly considering which one should i get between gtx 950 and r9 270x i never meant to defense a thing, you should understand that.I just need some trustworthy benchmark to make a decision

can't you see it,the 950 didn't outperform the 7950,it just equal 34fps in the battlefield hardline.

7950 is old card and 950 is new so it actually depends on the game itself.ok thats it,i know you don't want your card beaten by a cheaper card, and i don't give a shit about that.i just want to decide which one should i get between r9 270x and gtx 950 by some popular benchmark result.if you don't trust guru3d so where i could find some trustworty benchmark result?

The 960 and the 380 look pretty damned inseparable from what I've seen, and the 970 can usually beat the 390 because of its more reliable overclocking headroom. If you're sticking to stock then the 390 is better, but I don't really understand why people do that :P

The 390 can easily reach 1200 core - that's a 250-ish MHz OC and MHz to MHz AMD is faster by a longshot

thats it? cant give me some other trustworthy benchmark? i know you into amd card, and i was.

i know that r9 270x is a good card, but if you can't give me some bench that can make me choose r9 270x over the gtx 950 you are just a fanboy.

i mean why would you tell me not to cry if you are the one who is crying by saying it and not even give me some trustworthy proof.

(i dont want to be a bad guy so im sorry if you think im to mean, and if you find something that seems would help me i will very appreciate it)

That 390 can easily reach 1200 core. And you're comparing it to a 970 that struggled to hit 1440. That video has been refuted a million times on this forum due to it comparing an extremely good example of a 390 with an extremely shit example of a 970.

Unless you are very unlucky a 970 will overclock better than the 390.

The issue with benchmakrs is that a lot of sites will re-use a card's result even thought the drivers have vastly changed since then - I posted several benches already and the 950, while close, will be slightly behind the 270x since the 270x is not only the fully featured 370 chip - it's always very aggressively clocked with the Sapphire Vapo-X model starting at 1100 core and 1450 Memory - memory is almost maxed out OC while the core can go even higher. - https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2466/radeon-r9-270x.html

Sorry if I seem like a fanboy but I'm just saying that at worst - the 270x and 950 are tied - at best, with DX12, the 270x will steamroll past it. Simply a safer choice - I doubt thermals will be an issue considering the 270x's TDP is in between that of the 960 and 970 - it being 150W.

Already seen brother, earlier i also thought that amd is giving a bang for buck with their gpu, but when i compare these cards in realtime nvidia always been ahead of amd, and i am not a fanboy, its just reality

Then they should use the Sapphire Nitro? Which reaches 1300? Please - the EVGA 970 is probably among the best 970s on the market with EVGA being everyone's first choice for Nvidia

Can you go and read about the silicon lottery and then come back to this discussion? I can't be bothered to explain to you why you are wrong to assume that a single unit of any card is emblematic of all of them.

Generally speaking a 970 has more overclocking headroom than a 390 unless you get particularly lucky with a 390 or unlucky with a 970.

270x and 950 will perform around the same. They trade blows depending on the games your are testing. You can't go wrong with either of them if your choice is limited only between those two and they are at the same price. I'll take most benchmarks with a grain of salt since they probably use older drivers for the 270x and it's known that AMD drivers give performance boosts from time to time. Obviously the best choice when it comes to price/performance is the Powercolor R9 285 which I mentioned in my previous post. However if it's too expensive for you or if you are very concerned about power consumption, my suggestion will be the GTX 950, which you can overclock and reach around 960's level of performance.

perf_oc.gif

I know it's not at the resolution you are playing, but it can give a general idea how much performance you can squeeze from the GPU if you overclock (of course it will vary).

i know the sapphire vapo-x is one of the best r9 270x,but it just too much expensive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202059

It's not the only good one though, all of the 270x coolers are capable of cooling the cards and should allow for OCing

thanks mate :D R9 285 is good, but not good enough for my pocket and system,so i might consider the asus strix OC.

and once again thanks for your suggestion  :D

I am not backing anyone, yeah they are almost similar in price $20 doesn't make much difference, its about performance which i am talking about

Take any 1080P monitor and compare these two cards, in the end 970 will win
