Hi, I'm currently thinking about getting a 1440p display.

However, I do not know what brand to choose really. Both the Asus PB278Q 27" and the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM both look really amazing. I love Asus when it comes to hard ware and I've loved Dell monitors in the past. I've always heard to get Dell monitors over everything as they have the best color. But NewEgg reviews keep popping up with bleeding, dead pixels, and other stuff for Dell. Asus tends to be "not the right color but here's the icc to fix it".

I'll be using this mostly for school and gaming. Doubt I'll use it for video editing or photography work.

I don't want 1080p mostly because I'd like the extra screen real estate and I don't want to order a Korean panel.

Does anyone else have any input? This display would probably have to last me until 4K displays are on sale for a reasonable price (sub $1,000).

I've also thought about doing triple monitors with 1440p, but not sure and won't for quite some time.

The Asus PB278Q would be my choice hands down. I have two of them and I love them both. I have had no problem's with them whats so ever and the color on them are great. Also the price of the monitor has gone down a lot since I bought mine.

I bought them because Linus recommended me them instead of the Samsung monitor. Linus also liked them so much that he also bought two a couple weeks ago.

Most everyone here will recommend PB278Q…Asus makes great products though.

I have a dell U2713HM and love it! At the time I got my dell monitor the PB278Q were having a lot of dead pixel issues and Samsung who makes the screen for asus have fixed a large part of that and LG with rev. 2 of Dell U2713HM have fixed a lot of the issues. If you do have an issue with the Dell U2713HM they have a 3 year no questions asked warranty and you keep the screen until the new one arrives. My monitor came perfect with no issues so I don't have any experience with the warranty my self.

The Dell U2713HM is better color wise as it has a 8-bit panel while the PB278Q has only a 6-bit panel and the dell monitor is color calibrated from the factory. with the color calibration you get a report for your individual monitor and detailed graphs.

If you want a really indef review anandtech and TFTcentral both have reviews of each screen.

I also have the U2713HM and I must say, its color reproduction is AMAZING

it looks sleek too. the exterior is something I enjoy having on my desk unlike the korean ones.

I do have some backlight bleeding and some crosshatching BUT Dell has a no-questions-asked 3 year return policy. so all I have to do is call and they send me a new monitor within 2 days. I then pack up the defective one in the new ones box and send to Dell without spending a dime. you don't get this support with Asus. the warranty is what sold me on Dell

So then why haven't you called and got a new one if it's so easy? You have had it for a month now.. :)

I would go for the ASUS then..The dell has more issues then the cheap Korean monitors..If you like i can link proof on all 2713HM issues..

Yeah that'd be nice. Since both monitors are the same price, but still $600 is a lot.

It appears that it's sold through Newegg not by Newegg though.

It appears as if the Dell has a lot of input lag according to Anandtech. Though the Asus isn't much better.
