Hi guys, I'm planning to build my new pc and would like to ask if AMD 8-Core FX 9590 4.7 GHz Processor is compatible with MSI 990FXA GAMING Desktop Motherboard. I would also like to ask if you would recommend MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming 8G Graphics Card or what would you recommend instead. All this is going to require a lot of power, of how much should my power supply be? Considering the processor requires 220W and for the graphics card they recommend 400W should I go for a 750W power supply or something a bit more powerful in case I add something else to the pc later? And what brand would you recommend for the power supply?

Thanks very much

you can use pcpartpicker.com , put all yoru parts in there and it will show you if they are compatible or not but from what newegg says it will not since it wont support a cpu needing over 200w

with that said i would also suggest not getting that cpu for gaming, youre better off with an i5 which will be at a comporable price point and be much better

CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.6 ghz  Motherboard: Asus z170-a  Cooling: Corsair h80i GT GPU: EVGA GTX 970  Ram: G.Skill 2x8 gb ddr4 2400  PSU: EVGA G2 Supernova 550w  Case: Corsair 200r Storage: 250GB 850 EVO + 2x wd 1 tb drives

im loving my 6600k but you can also get a 4690k for a bit less if you dont want the features the z170 chipset brings

an i7 will always be better but your gonna be raising the price about 100 bucks (or more)

CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.6 ghz  Motherboard: Asus z170-a  Cooling: Corsair h80i GT GPU: EVGA GTX 970  Ram: G.Skill 2x8 gb ddr4 2400  PSU: EVGA G2 Supernova 550w  Case: Corsair 200r Storage: 250GB 850 EVO + 2x wd 1 tb drives

Thanks for your recommendations. So what i5 would you recommend? Should I go for an i5 or an i7? I want the pc for gaming and also working on 3D modeling and some video editing

I would go for any i7 with a k at the end of the model in a LGA 1150 or LGA 1151 socket.

But the FX should be fine for 3D modeling, since multi core workloads is the only thing it is good for.

(It doesn't preform that well in gaming though)

both are good cards, the 290 x will outperform slightly but the 390 has more vram which may come in to play a bit later on when games start needing more and more ram
