Laptop into desktop

skynethal3000

I'm debating on sticking a laptop's internals into a desktop case. It would get better cooling and easier to clean. From what I've seen due to many of the laptop parts being stuck together and laptop's not conforming to any standards I would basically be sticking the whole innards in one piece. This would mean harder access to ports. Has anyone else n here tried this? Maybe I should just buy a good cooling pad.

The issue will probably be connecting the display. I'm not entirely sure how the connections work and if they can be converted or extended.

What components are you looking at?  Because this could be a SUPER simple project with great results if you chose your parts right.  And it needs to be in the right application.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Good point. I thought of just sticking the screen on the side of the case where the cables could reach instead of buying a controller board like I have seen.

So, it has a HDMI port, so connecting a display wont be awful.  Also, what are your expectations of this machine?

Well I thought of just sticking the screen on the side of the case so I wouldn't have to buy a display or a controller board. I just thought of doing this to make it have better cooling so I could maybe overclock it to get more life out of it.

so is the current chassis broken?  Why would you want to take it out of the current enclosure?  Just heat related issues?
