Time Lapse Trouble

Sup! I am about to build my second gaming rig and i want to time lapse the progress.

 

I know that it is going to take about an hour or so.

 

I have a dslr but i hear that after 12 minutes it shuts down from heat. (even though mine records at 480)

 

i have a 4gb sd card

 

I have a laptop, the reason i mention is because i thought i might use it for the cam to record strait to the hdd for more storage.

 

so how do i setup for recording for a straight 2 hours without running out of storage at about 360p. (360 because it is a time lapse and upload speeds here are soooo slow.)

 

any help will be much appreciated.
