The two sticks that are 2133 will not run at 2133. Find a get of 1600MHz memory that matches the voltage and timings of your current kit instead. :)

It's because I'm buying 1600 RAM for my PC, but when I get my GPU, the store has a promotion where they're giving free 8gb of 2133 ram if you buy that GPU so.. I can't use the 2133 ram right? What if I were to switch my 1600 to 2133, would all 4 work?

depends on the exact type number of the ram ( if the type number doesnt match dont mix ram ever )

example if u have corsair vengeance pro rams type number

CMY8GX3M2B2133C9

and a

CMY8GX3M2B1600C9 <<< aslong the entire type number is equal ( but if the mhz is different )

the chips are the exact same but then the 1600C9 is downclocked from 2133c9 and beeing sold as a 1600kit instead of a 2133 kit

dont mix different type numbers on ram because secondary and tetriary timings will always differ in different ram chips/kits

read the posts i made here http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/435009-adding-extra-ram/#entry5830745

to read more about it ( why u should not mix different types/kits, unless the exact typenumber is the same but mhz has differential ) :P

short said, never ever mix different ram kits/types of ram.. and only mix different MHZ values together if the type number/ram chip is the exact same

Chances are the 1600MHz RAM won't be able to make it to 2133MHz, hence why it is 1600MHz rated. The 2133MHz will be able to run at 1600MHz, but they're not certain to work together.

If you get 2133 ram now it would be downclocked to work at the lowest common denominator with your 1600mhz kit (basically everything goes to the best working settings across the board, definitely not 2133). If you got 2133 ram and that free kit I would advice you match voltage and timings to make sure it's not buggy.

Even if they're the same model and specs, if they come from different kits, they're not certain to work. I've had two kits of the exact same RAM, but only 3 of the 4 sticks worked together. Basically, if they're not sold as one set, they're not guaranteed to work together.

Obviously, matching the specs greatly increases the chances of them working together.

And how would I do that :)?
