I NEED HELP

Go to solution Solved by EllieThePurpleFuzzy,

4690k and maybe try find a used/cheaper R9 290? :D

Okay, first off here's my build:

Intel Pentium G3258 @4.3 GHz @ 1.2 volts

PNY GTX 750 ti XLR8 Edition @ Stock speeds

MSi Z97 PCMate mobo

8gbs of Crucial Ballistics DDR3 RAM

and a 550 watt PSU

I want to upgrade a part, but only have about $350-400 bucks to do so.

I need to know, should I upgrade my GPU (to a GTX 970), or my CPU (Preferably an Intel 4770k or 4790k)?

Personally I assume I should go for the GPU but I'd like some advice from some more experienced members of the community.

Heil GabeN!

Going with the CPU would leave a massive lack of balance. Going with the GPU wouldn't help much since the Pentium is likely to bottleneck most anything over an R9 270. You can get around $50-$55 or the Pentium, and at that point I'd recommend that you get an i5 4460 and an R9 290. If you're going to Fairfax anytime soon, there's a Micro Center there and they have the i5 4590 for $160. Either that or go for the GTX 970 and live with the bottleneck.

Wait, I'm not thinking that one through lol :P USED R9 290! lol

At the price point of the R9 290, should I just try to find a good deal on a GTX 970?
