Sorry to ask this again, but I really need a nice clear answer.

Im using an 800D with a Maximus v extreme and an 3770k with 2 7970's, Im planning to overclock them. How many rads should be sufficient, and is it worth putting in two pumps (mcp655).  At the moment im placing a 360 rad on the top, and a 120 on the back, and finally a 140 on the bottom next to my ax1200, I hope they fit without case modding.

A final question is will I be able to water cool all these components well in the 800d?

Many Thanks Jack

Thanks, so you think my 800d will suffice?

your 800d will be pleanty big for a decent watercooling setup

to use overclocking on both CPU/GPU you will need at least a 360x 60 and 240x 60

to keep low fan speeds (low noise) and moderate to low temperatures. the 360 will fit

in the 800D no issues, but the 240 will take some "case massaging" as the 240 will

some help to install in the basement. either vertical or horizontal, the basement will

need some cutting and ventilation aids to make it work dreamy.

google 800D watercooling and you'll see a plethora of 240 rads in the basement,

follow their build log to examine if that is what you want to do. most do not want to

cut up their cases and there will be some cutting involved.

Thanks, I will give that a big think, so you don't think that a push pull 360 on the top a push pull on both the rear and the bottom (a 140 and a 120) will be sufficient,

P.S. My fans are Noctua Nf-f12's and Nf-a14's

push pull isn't necessary unless you have either really low fan speeds, really thick (80+) radiator,

looking for super low silence, or like saying push/pull.

if using NF-F12 fans, single set in push is fine. if looking for pull, you might opt for

another fan, the F12 (in my experience) didn't like pull as the chassis grille was

making a moan/groan hum. another is using focus-flow fans for push is effective,

in pull no need (focus-flow into atmosphere[?])..

using the 360 +120/140 for a CPU/2x GPU loop is short for any low fan speed use to keep

temperatures mellow (below 60°) with any sot of overclocking on either. no headroom for

variables like ambient, excess load, and long-run loads.

Thanks, il give modding a go a then put a 240 down there, i could have gone for the 900d, size is the real problem though with the 900d.

So the 360 + the 240 and a 140 on the rear should be fine.

P.S. Would you ever recommend a setupe like this :

i.e. a cooling loop for the gpu's and a closed system for the cpu

why not the 900D? size?

skip the single 140 for a 1°-2° drop is negligible for the routing nightmare it will

present and aesthetics will be a mess.

no, i would not recommend custom GPU loop and an AIO for CPU. will scream

NOOB! to the tallest mountain and the dalhi will come and take your PC away.

i could recommend an AIO and air-cooling for the GPU. just depends on what

the variables are and what the expectation is for the system. but i'd deffo would

not recommend an 800D with the above AIO/GPU air cooling, more NOOB!

but if temporary, then mod-on..

Ha ha thanks, the 900d is just too big for my liking, great case though, will mod to fit a 240 in the bottom, and will remove the 120 from the rear, also please can you advise me on the setup (order) e.g. res->pump->240rad etc.

Thanks

you'll need one of these:

airdeano

To clarify:

Simply grab a 2D side on snap of your case. (Just type your case name into google images and scroll down a bit till you find one, it should be there.) Then go to a photo editing program and simply put rectangles where you would like to place your radiators, blocks, reservoirs, pumps and tubing. For blocks use blue, for radiators use red and anything else use grey and for tubing use orange/brown lines with an arrow to point out the intended flow direction of your loop.

There is no need to put fans in. This forum has an upload function or you can use an image sharing site and embed the picture into your post. This is an example of this from my personal loop: http://i.imgur.com/MynbfCp.jpg

Feel free to PM for any water-cooling questions. Check out my profile for more ways to contact me.

Thanks, how abput google sketch up?

P.S. Seems like I'm going for a rx360 and a rx240 but do you think I should upgrade to a 480 by modding the top of the 800d?

Refer to airdeano's reply, thought case was a 900D.

Will this work?

doubt you'll get the pump, rad and PSU in the basement.

the pump will more than likely mount on the mid-plate close to the reservoir.

if you google corsair 800D water cooling images, you'll see all the combinations of

800D radiator placement and routing tips.
