Hey all,

What I am looking to do is setup two networks for my apartment, which I share with 2 other roommates. I am looking to do this because, I enjoy streaming, and I also do upload some videos to YouTube which takes an extreme amount of bandwidth. So is it possible, how do I do it, and what do I need, so that I can use one network for uploading and streaming, and have another that's dedicated to gaming for my roommates and I?

If your router supports a guest network you can do that if it doesn't you will need two routers one with a bandwidth limit and one without

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

-snip- never mind i dum i thought he wanted to use to internet connection as one.

this isnt what you want from what i gather, a load balancer would allow one computer to use 4 internet connections, for what you need you would need 2 internet connections, connected to different things

If you want to do this you will need to get a second line installed from your ISP, this most likely will result in having to get a second plan. The idea of splitting to lines off your one current connection will not work as the line either way you connect to it will fill and completely slow down your connection. The only way is to get a second internet connection from your ISP.

Human intelligence decreases with increasing proximity to oncoming traffic.

Guys.. He is not saying that he wants 2 connections, just 2 networks :)

It should, be doable in a few different ways..

1. Set up some mad QoS

2. If your router supports it, activate another network and limit that

3. Buy an ap that supports limiting (hp, Cisco, ubiquiti, xclaim) and set that up

4. If possible, limit the data rate on the port on the router you use :)

I would go for option 3, it is by far the easiest, but I don't know your budget for this :)
