i recently just rma my cpu and they gave me a new cpu and it seems to be getting too hot. I downloaded hwmonitor and it shows that my cpu is at 60-68 at idle. i am using stock amd heat sink with the cooler master thermal paste that came with hyper 212 evo, because i had to swap out my mother board. what should i do from here? thanks i will pick a best answer.

no

Try that, is the fan on the heatsink spinning? How's airflow in your case?

When you removed the heatsink, was the thermal compound reaching the entire CPU?

For me, those "pea sized dots" just aren't enough to cover the whole surface, and as such, performance takes a huge hit.

I normally do a 1 1/2 pea sized dot
