I heard that the night hawk can be a repeater as well, and i've looked up how to do it, but their is not any good websites to do so. my current router sucks, and the range doesnt quite make it. I play League competitively and i'll be hitting diamond soon.

I have a router already, but i'd like to use the night hawk as a repeater and confused in the process. Can someone tell me the steps that i need to do, descriptively please, I don't know much about these kinda things.

Also i have the password on the main router, and nighthawk wont let me enable repeat mode unless i have security to none. ? anyway thanks for the help guys.

also i have a modem/router thats what shaw gave me. and if my new router is better then the modem/router will the new router make it faster or be able to use the 5ghz function, or does a repeater literally just only increase the range of the existing router ?

well i would first just try using the nighthawk as you main router, because if you can that would be significantly better than what you have now, and also if you can you should place the router in a good spot

I believe you will get better results trying to use the Night Hawk as an Access Point instead of a repeater. The difference is that a repeater has to connect to the existing wireless and then rebroadcast the data, whereas an Access Point with connect to you modem/router combo unit via an ethernet cable, and then broadcast it's own wireless. You sjould be able to find lots of guides on setting up your Night Hawk as an Access Point, or AP.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

Repeat mode was actually removed from the newer firmware because of problems it had. Also having a repeater will add latency to your connection which you do not want if you want to improve your gaming skills. I would suggest you replace the router your isp gave you with it and see if the signal is better. if your have a week 2.4ghz signal you will probably not even see the 5ghz signal though because even though it can support more throughput it has much less range.

thanks, and i did set it up as an access point before, and i was still getting lag spikes on the 2.4 ghz one and the 5ghz. It's a strong signal its always 4 bars, yet the ping always goes from 30 - 280 ish. Why would i get ping spikes if the range and the signal are strong :(

around every thirty seconds or so my ping sky rockets.

That could be the drivers on your NIC or interference or just bad internet :)

Have you tested different wifi channels?
