390x...or 980ti?

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

If you are going to be gaming at 1080p and want to go overkill then I wouldnt go further than a 390x, even a 390 should do you perfectly fine at 1080p.

You say you want to stay over 60fps, but here's an idea of how overkill it is with the 390x.

Tri-X 390x, games at 1080p and maxed out:

Tomb Raider (ultimate preset): 96.9fps

Bioshock infinite (Maxed out): 122.2fps

Shadow of Mordor (ultra preset): 97.6fps

The last one is the most important cause Shadow of Mordor is a beast of a game and the 390x still gets 97.6fps average lol so yeah overkill for sure

Hey guys, okay so I'm looking to move on from my R9 270x crossfire build and I'm looking at doing something a little bit over kill for my situation. My current set up is a triple monitor set-up. One 27inch 1080p display and two 17inch displays. The 27inch being used for gaming. I would love to run anything I throw at it at near max settings with at least 60 fps, if not more. And like I said, I want to go over-kill. Would the 390x be enough to cure my hunger for more power? Or should I go all out with the 980ti?

Would love to hear your guys' opinions, thanks!

"What're you supposed to be? A clown or something?"

I'd go single card,

but the 390x would not be my choice,

R9 fury or 980ti would get my vote ( or R9 390, keeping in mind that you might get a card that can be unlocked )

If you do have 650+ $ to spend, maybe a new monitor and a gpu would serve you better

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

390x if you don't want to upgrade in the next 5-6 or even 7 years, the 8GB of VRAM will go a LONG way

980Ti if you want to keep with the most up-to-date technology and cards and such (My Choice)
