Looking to build my first PC, for under $500, around $400. Already have a graphics card, so that does not need to be included.

Adding a case is not necessary but if a decent one can be fitted into the budget, that would be great!

Mainly looking for the CPU/Mobo and PSU to go along with them. The GPU I have already is the 960 from Zotac.

I would get an i5 or an APU.

Unless you are going to virtual machine or 3d rendering.

I really don't think going to Intel is the best thing. If you go with AMD you're getting a much better balanced build with 16GB of ram instead of 8, a SSD to put your OS on, and a nice CPU cooler.
