Check all the connections and replace the wire if that doesn't work.

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

VIBRATIONS = DEATH.

well I mean vibrating like it's on, both my mech drives have always done this. I'd assume if it was fully broken would just be like you've opened it out of the package?

Is the hard drive vibrating enough to shake the drive cage?

depends how bad.

op

Vibration as in feeling it is spinning. or like frantic vibrations

Like you know, when your comp's on and you touch a mech drive and you can feel it's on?

OH, then it must be an unforeseen issue with the internals,

EDIT: it will be really hard to bring your drive back most likely

Try dif cable.

This is usually the case, I had raged when my drive didn't work and it just wasn't plugged in all the way.

ah i will try tomorrow when I'm feeling fresher, lol (case is quite compact, gonna involve abit of work)

I was just wondering, it should show up in bios regardless unless as you say it's not plugged in, properly, but surely you wouldn't feel anything when you touch then though?

confusing.

the drive might still be powered by the power cable (the one with no audible lock noise, but not plugged in properly with the sata 3 data cable (the one that might be red and makes an audible click when plugged in.

Hey there MPX309,

What is the drive's brand and model? If it's not recognized in BIOS, Device Manager and Disk Management I would check the cables, try another SATA cable and other SATA ports and possibly check the drive on another computer (internally or externally). If you get it to be recognized, run a diagnostic utility from the manufacturer to check the drive's health. You might also want to check for new OS and driver updates. Is the D partition part of your boot drive or is it a separate physical drive?

Hi. . . Urm, it was working for a long time but yesterday just vanished. I did want to clean up some space on my C drive, and the only thing I removed was Firestrike, which isn't much lol.

  • 3 weeks later...

Ok so I've replaced both the data SATA and power SATA cables on still nothing's showing. Whatever happened has been done inadvertently by me somehow but not sure how.

Did you dry with other SATA ports? You should try the drives on other computers before confirming they have failed completely. Can you feel the drives spinning properly?

Yes tried other ports, and all sorts. . . its only one drive not working, the other 2 are fine. I don't have another computer to try that drive on though.
