This is my star citizen rig in the making, I'd like to hear your opinions on what I should change and such, all parts marked purchased have already arrived. I've been fighting myself over the CPU and GPU currently.Should I go 5th generation? Should I wait on the next series of Nvidia GPUs? I'd like to be able to have all of the parts avalible by January of 2016 so that my current parts are not considered outdated by that point.

A single 980Ti is better, also for a little more you can get a 480GB SSD for about $140. Also that RAM is a bit pricey, it would be cheaper to go with 1333 or 1600Mhz as the speed of your RAM has no effect on gaming performance.

Can you give me a link to that $140 480GB SSD?

while the I7 is a great chip, unless you are also going to be recording or streaming while playing I don't see the price difference over a good I5 for just playing games. my 8350 on the AMD side has no issues running SC while streaming it at 720p. I'm not saying go amd, if you want intel go intel, it's ok. but I don't really get the I7 over the I5 at current loads and uses. if you are going to record videos and do video production then I can see the getting the 7

As all others have said, go single 980ti as the game's spec requirements will only increase in time. You can go dual 980s in the future, but triple 970s would be senseless.

Also, if you are going with water cooling, please up to a 240 or 280 config, or stick to air cooling. A single 120mm rad will actually be louder and will have barely an improvement even over a hyper 212 evo... For near the same value, I would go for a noctua nh-d14 or d15. I usually use water cooling myself,  but in regards to cost effective, water cooling below the 100usd mark is just inefficient.

PS. In regards to @rucdoc that argument depends on what resolution he runs and what else he plans to do on the computer, aside from SC.

For a 4790k, you shouldn't even have to worry about oc-ing the cpu at any point. I've been running at base and even switched to a 212 for some time without any issues with SC. You can also go 100usd cheaper with a 4690k with a decent oc and get the same performance. That would just depend on if you plan to use the 4 extra threads, or use any programs that may utilize it.

Still new, but learning
