No. They can both handle 1080p 144Hz, so there's really no difference, unless you have built-in speakers in your monitor and you want audio. Then you would need DisplayPort.
Use either, it wont matter, the only difference will be the DVI wont carry sound if that is something you need then switch to DisplayPort.

you don't need displayport for 1080p. No way. You can use D-Sub (VGA) for that if you really wanted to.
Thanks everyone for the help! I'll just stick with the DVI-D.
