Probably your CPU will not give you more FPS, unless you changed the GPU that came with the PC.

I have an AMD FX-6120 on an OEM HP board, is it even possible to force an OC with it? and by how much, my cpu doesn't run hot now, but the cooler isn't amazing. I would try as hard as possible to get as far as it can, if it's possible. I could really use more FPS.

Highly doubtful. Most OEM boards barely allow you to change RAM timings. Even if you could, you shouldn't. Poor VRM's are a recipe for disaster.

Overclocking your CPU will not help with FPS unless your GPU is already being bottlenecked by it.

Alright, some background, I'm playing CS:GO and going from a 550 Ti to a GTX 760, barely did anything, maybe 5 fps. CS:GO is basically all CPU based, and I need the extra juice.

Well, rip. I guess I'll just wait it out for the next 1-2 months, my shitty stuttering is annoying as all hell but if I'm limited I'll be patient.

I wouldn't overclock especially since you have an OEM board that have poor VRMs unless you want to risk a damaged mobo and CPU.

no, you'll blow the board...those high energy consumptions CPU's require higher-end motherboards in order to support overclocking.
