8350 overclocking help and suggestions

Go to solution Solved by bamerx98,
I think I'm going to get this kit here http://www.aquatuning.us/index.php/cat/c308_S-939-AM2-AM3-Kits.html and then I might add a 360 after as my case will support it with a few little mods

I currently have a 8350 on a Asus m5a99x evo r2.0 and a hyper 212 Cooling the 8350 I currently have a 4.4ghz oc and this keeps the socket under 65 under prime 95 I was wondering what CPU cooler I should get to replace the 212 ? Also suggest some oc settings I dont really know what to do with the vcore on this CPU I'm really used to the phenom but the 8350 seems to react more to vcore changes

How about custom loop?

i have 8350 at 5.3Ghz, and temps are under 60c

If my information is correct, you can stick a Kraken x60, H110, or H220 in that case.

If you're unhappy about the 212 Evo you could go with Noctua's U14S or Xigmatek Dark Knight or look into an AIO cooler like the H100i.

Overclocking questions are going to have be answered by someone else not that great with overclocking.

For overclocking, increase voltage sparingly. What is your voltage currently?

I haven't touched the voltage but when I set it to 1.35 vcore my temps went up to 80c in a heart beat, Im just not satisfided with knowing I could have better performance

Yes the case has support for a 280 or 240 in the front and top

Before overclocking further, get a better cooler. Those temps are pretty high for any overvolting.

I don't see a point in upgrading unless you really want then a H220 since you are not in the States

I just want more performance out of the CPU I don't like knowing that I could be getting higher performance. I don't think you can get the h220 in Canada yet either ?

That's what I thought what would you reccomend h220 looks good but I can't find any Canadian retailer with it in stock ?

um, right now your not going to get anymore performance until you upgrade your GPU, maybe get a 680, 7970, or 770, overclocking the cpu right now is pointless as the GPU is bottlenecking the 8350

I'm not going to be upgrading the GPU it does the job for now, its a 7870 xt aka a 7930 its not worth upgrading right now, I'm wanting to over clock the CPU more to get better render times I do a lot of work in video editing software and sound creation and I enjoy my 8350 and dont wanna spend 500 dollars for Intel and get a 5% performance increase. I just wanted to get suggestions on overclocking the 8350 and what cooler I should get

yeah I think I'm just going to get a custom loop kit, it seems to be the best option for me right now.

The CPU will benefit with higher overclocks in CPU intensive games, such as Skyrim, Crysis 2-3, Far Cry 3, and Battlefield 3-4.
