Over the summer holidays we are meant to look at our schools website page for the subject we are going to be studying. Naturally I went to the Hardwear section to have a look. I was not impressed. These questions are so easy and pointless!!!! Any ideas on what to do and do say sit back and relax. I like to have something to do in lessons. My school has a no personal electronics policy.

You're doing a computing course and they won't let you have a personal computer to use? You could put your knowledge to good use and help others in the class if they're struggling with hardware. Or you could ask your teacher if you can practise programming or something, as you're already familiar with hardware.

Computer hardware units always tend to be very basic in computing courses. I recently did my degree and the hardware stuff was too basic to actually put any advanced knowledge to use. If you're confident with it, you may as well use the time to get a head start on things you're not so good at.

This is why I didn't take IT at the college level - because it's just outright insulting.

I KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SPREADSHEET, THANKS! AND NO, USING DREAMCHEATER DOESN'T MAKE ME A WEB DESIGNER!

I remember doing really well in IT but only getting passes and merits because I couldn't be arsed with the frivolity of checking off what I've done and explaining what to do.

"This is how you navigate to a folder." There is no feasible context in which I would need to explain that. At all.

IT at the GCSE level is pathetic...

A friend of mine did an apprenticeship at Zenos when that was a thing a few years back. It was the real deal; no spreadsheet nonsense. He landed a qualification and a job at IT for...Poundworld, of all things...

Unfortunately, no-one else would employ him because he didn't do it at A-Level, so he's now doing Ethical Hacking at Abertay. At least he's doing something worth his time now.
