pcie m.2 ssd adapter

Storage through PCIe is different from storage through SATA cables.

Most PCIe storage solutions use a SATA protocol but this has to be supported by the BIOS to be able to boot from it. You could ask ASUS if it's possible with your specific motherboard, however

By the time you load drivers, you're already in Windows, you can't load drivers before you boot. Unless the BIOS is being updated.
