Does Liquid Cooling require a "Liquid Cooling Compatible MB"?

Super Newbie question...

Im super new to liquid cooling.

So i was looking it up and noticed that the mother board i was looking at has x1 Water Pump Header (FYI, the Maximus VIII Hero/Z170-Deluxe. Both from ASUS). However, im looking to use a Cooler Master Nepton 280L (http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-liquid-cooler/nepton-280l/) for the CPU and an additional Liquid Cooling System from EKWB (not chosen a specific one yet) for the GPU's. But there is only one water pump header from the mother board.

Where or how do i add the additional one water pump?

That is just marketing BS Asus started recently. It is just a PWM connector for controlling fans or water pumps. You could plug a fan into it and it would work. You could plug the Pump into a fan header and it would work the same

or you can just use full custom loop that connect cpu gpu and your motherboard all together.

So your saying that basically fan headers work for the pumps and vice versa.

So basically ASUS marketing those are just because they have the additional adjustments they can make in their system.

Yup, they pretty much took a Fan Header and relabeled it Water Pump. Functionally there is no difference

The only thing you need to worry about for CPU is the socket, everything else branded differently in this case ASUS and their water pump header, is just another pwn connector for fans. I have a custom loop from Danger Den and trust me you don't need a mobo that is compatible for cooling.

Any suggested brands for liquid cooling? Im currently looking at EKWB, but not sure if the pumps are reliable.. 800l/h is that considered big or enough for a full loop from two radiators, CPU, and two GPU's? And i dont think the one im looking at has a speed configuration.. So hoping to seek advice on pump brands and all that what not.
