My brother's asus G750Js laptop is used for his work and its not working anymore. He updated the pc through windows update and then restarted. When it restarted it booted up normally to the desktop. Once the desktop icons load up the screen begins to refresh on an unending loop making the machine unusable. I can open task manager and i see many Thumbnail Handler Extraction(100's) processes running at the same time and windows error reporting running constantly. I looked it up and found this...

Have you tried booting into safe mode and trying from there?

Boot into safemode and run a restore
