Use your key for Windows 7 Pro and install that on the other drive, using your current key to activate it. Then upgrade to Windows 10.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

I don't recommend cloning your drive if you can avoid it. It impacts your performance pretty heavily from what I've heard.

If you wanted a fresh install of windows 10 on a different ssd, why you would clone the other one before upgrading it? Installing 7 on the new ssd and upgrading it would be the closest you can get to clean installing windows 10 using a windows 7 key.

I don't think you have to deactivate your current version of Windows. Just pop the key when you're doing a fresh install and it should be fine (speaking from personal experience).
