Hey i am recently starting my new build and after spending alot of time picking parts i realized that if i cut all the fancy stuff and get a starter build that can be upgraded later that it would be better than later on having to buy a new graphics card. So i went all out on the graphics card and put an i5 processor. I know its the k version but once again its a starter so i plan on later buying a cooler to over clock but I dont have the funds to buy all this at once. So my main question here is is it not smart or can the processor I have in this build push the gtx 980 ti to its full potential? Or is this idea just bad and should i just purchase each part operatically because i cannot buy them all at once?

All feedback is greatly appreciated Thanks! :)

My idea will this work?  http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GQByzy

I'd get a z97 board and a cpu cooler for overclocking if you're gonna get that cpu.

i5-4690k@4.5GHz || MSI GTX 970 || MSI z97 Gaming 5 || NZXT Kraken x61 || WD Black 1TB || Crucial MX100 || 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro || Corsair RM750 || NZXT H440 || Corsair k70 RGB mx browns || Acer H236HL || ViewSonic VX2255wm-4

I agree with Amazingasian. Since you are getting a k CPU, consider investing in a Z97 board. My suggestion is the Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128715&cm_re=ga-z97-hd3-_-13-128-715-_-Product). You can sometimes find it an extra $10 cheaper for a total price of $70 after rebate (AR). You don't have to buy a cooler yet, since you are trying to cut back costs wherever you can, but definitely get one in the future.

CPU - Intel i7-4790k | CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO | Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 (Rev 2.0) | RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws X 16GB (2x8) DDR3-1866 | Storage - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD | Graphics Card - EVGA GeForce GTX 980ti SC | Case - Fractal Design Define R5 w/Window (Black) | PSU - EVGA 750W B2 | Display - Acer K272HUL | Keyboard - E-Element RGB | Mouse - Logitech g502 | Sound - Klipsch ProMedia 2.1/Fostex TH-x00/Sennheiser HD595
