Seems like a good deal for a surge protector.

Is it?

 

I need something to plug in record player, receiver, pc, and ethernet switch

Basically yeah. But it also has surge protection not only for the plugs but for the modem line-ins too.

 

OP, maybe look into this: Some manufacturers offer free of charge added warranty for devices that are plugged into the board. Basically if something happens even through the protector, they'll pay not only for a new protector but also for your broken devices. I think at least APC does it.
