Laptop SSD upgrade

So, I've got an msi ge60 Apache Pro 003, and I'm thinking about purchasing a SSD to swap out with one of the hard drives (currently have a 500gb and 1tb 7200 rpm drive). I'm just wondering if the speed boost is significant enough for the money that I'm shelling out. I'm also curious if I'll see an improvement in battery life since SSDs don't require a physical disk to spin. Thoughts and opinions?

If you can fit 2 drives swap the 500gb for an ssd and keep the 1tb for mass storage.

it depends you need to check on the manufacturers website if youre laptop has sata III support, otherwise your SSD won´t be operating at max speed

Even operating at sata2 speeds, the performance will be night and day from an SSD to a HDD.

SSD's tend to have much better battery consumption than HDD's.

It will boost the battery life. My Acer Laptop had a 500 GB HDD (Which I had to swap for a SSD because it was getting way too slow...SSDs really are better for the traveling college student). I gained about 30 min of battery life compared to before. The boost in speed is definitely worth it.

Hey there blax3k,

 

A SSD would bring a lot of value to your laptop, making it much more responsive, snappier and decrease all loading and boot times. Games won't benefit as much as FPS and graphics are not affected in any way and only loading times would be decreased, but faster storage is always a good idea.
