DSR vs native

Hey guys just wanted to know if its harder for a gpu to drive 1440p using DSR threw nvidia or native, and the image quality between the two

Higher resolution is always harder to run.

I don't think 2560x1440 native is any easier/harder to run than 2560x1440 via DSR, since the same number of pixels are being rendered either way.

 

The image quality difference comes from the fact that with DSR, you're looking at 2560x1440 through the hardware pixels of a 1920x1080 monitor. The game output to the monitor should be the same either way. Native 2560x1440 is going to look better because you're actually looking at that many pixels in your monitor.

 

Useful to note that the closest approximation of the image quality comes from using a resolution that is 4x or 8x your native resolution. A pixel divides up evenly into a four-by-four or eight-by-eight block, and you may notice blurring when it doesn't divide up evenly. 1440p should look very good on a 720p monitor, and 2160p should look good on a 1080p monitor.

They take exactly the same amount of power to drive.

1440p DSR on 1080p looks like anti-aliased 1080p, because that's what it is.

1440p native looks like 1440p native. The image quality difference is quite stark.

I have two zotac 980ti extreme's just waiting for the monitor to arrive next week..just found linus's video on the subject not exactly DSR but same thing im guessing
