Hi, I installed OSX on my PC a few months ago to find out my R9 295X2 was not supported so OSX displays in a really low resolution. I have since found this video which shows the R9 290/X working in OSX. I was wondering if there would be a way to make the R9 295X2 work with OSX even if it was just one of the GPUs so that I could use OSX in my native resolution (3440x1440).

I personally prefer OSX to Windows so please don't tell me just to stick to Windows because I use both. I use Windows for gaming and programmes not supported for OSX. All of my PC's components are officially compatible with OSX apart from my GPU, so I was wondering if anyone could help me to get it working properly.

This is the video which shows the R9 290/X operating in OSX Yosemite

PC Spec:

i7 4930k @4.5Ghz

8GB Ripjaws Z Ram

R9 295X2

850w coolermaster v850 PSU

Asus X79 Deluxe Motherboard

Find out if Crossfire works with OSX. If it does, 295x2 will most likely work. If not, run bootcamp and emulate windows.

Heyyo,

By the looks of it? You might be boned... recent AMD kexts (OSX drivers) for mavericks seems to not have QE/CI for the R9 295x2... Some have said changing the device's ID gets it to work but no hardware acceleration.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1483021/official-amd-r9-295x2-owners-club/5300

So... it'll essentially do 2D only unless AMD puts out a new driver/kext for OSX which is unlikely unless more GPUs get added to a Mac Pro or something.

Wow... there's not even an AMD driver download on AMD's site for OSX... only Windows and Linux...

Then again... Mac OSX on NIVIDIA's side only has official drivers for the GTX 680, GTX 285, GT 120 and 8800 GT... yet even the new Titan X seems to work under OSX with minimal effort...

Multi-GPU (AMD Crossfire & NVIDIA SLI) is not compatible with OSX. Period. I doubt Apple even had a single Power PC or Mac Pro with those capabilities...

Heck, AMD Crossfire & NVIDIA SLI is essentially non-exsistent in the current version of OpenGL... maybe Vulkan API will have it in Linux and potentially OSX... but who knows...
