So I have a bit of a first world problem going on...

I was sold on the Aorus X5 with the GTX965m SLI and the G-sync, etc.

And then this morning, they announced the GTX 990m, which apparently delivers the power of two 980ms in SLI.

My question is, should I wait for the 990ms to release, and hope to buy say a Gigabyte P35X v5, with the 990m (and hopefully G-sync).

Or will the 990m require too much power and produce too much heat to fit a 15" chassis anyway and I should just get the Aorus now?

No it doesn't, it never will, under no circumstances can a single laptop GPU based on Maxwell deliver the power of two 980Ms in SLI.

Source? Two 980Ms ballparks a GTX Titan X (or beats it).

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I was equally surprised, and the massive increase in power is the only thing making me wait on this purchase. Surely if it really can deliver 980m SLI performance from a single chip, they can get it into a 15" chassis and it will be badass.

Since a 980M is ballpark 70% of a 980, making a single 980 into a 990M would not even make my 780M SLI bat an eyelash, far less make 980M SLI chuckle.

I repeat: FOR A 990M TO BE 2x 980M SLI, IT NEEDS TO BE STRONGER THAN A GTX TITAN X.

That will never be cooled by any notebook. Not even mine. Not even the P770ZM. NOT EVEN THE P570WM.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Buy a desktop and a ultra book.

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.

Considered that, but since Im going to be at University doing engineering, I want to be able to take power into lectures/around campus for any 3d modelling and stuff I need to do, while also being able to game in my room or at home.

And considering how far laptop technology has come on, if I want to game I can set up on a laptop cooler, plug into a monitor and have almost desktop performance from the Aorus.
