My only change would be getting an ssd now and getting an hdd later when you have $40 to spend. Something like this.

I have bought that already .-. Reason being, I spent 1,400 on it around christmas time of last year.

uhm.. i really dont think the 280x is better than the 970..

Fine, it has 4GB of actual VRAM., And if you want to be like that we can switch that up to a 390

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($166.95 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 PERFORMANCE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 390 8GB PCS+ Video Card  ($314.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Apex Vortex 3620 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($29.99 @ Directron)
Total: $738.34

And as reference again, please do not tell me which card is better, a 390 will beat a 970.

Oh, also the build was slightly under priced so you could step it up to a 380.

GTA V will also benefit from hyperthreading which sadly the chip doesn't have
