difference between midi interfaces.

hak4fun

just wondering what the difference is between lets say a $50 maudio uno, and a $80 m-audio midisport. will they do the same thing +/- a few features? all I want to do is take my piano/keyboard, and use it as a midi device for some projects.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

Depending on the keyboard, you might be able to skip the MIDI interface and plug it in with USB as get MIDI control that way

It doesn't have a USBport, so I am guessing you can't do that... I wonder if I could wire something like a raspi into a piano.... make it a "smart" keyboard.

Sounds tedious, although MIDI is a pretty simple concept. I think either of those interfaces with do fine. You can't really do MIDI badly I don;t think
