let me know where my friend can save money or if he should get a 980 instead of a 970 for 1440p if he upgrades.

I wouldnt trust on one 970 maxing out games at 1440p, its geared towards maxing new titles at 1080p

One 980 will do well enough, maybe not 100% maxed everything, the way I look at it is the 980Ti is to 1440p what the 970 is to 1080p and the 980 kinda falls right in between :P

One 980 will do well enough, maybe not 100% maxed everything, the way I look at it is the 980Ti is to 1440p what the 970 is to 1080p and the 980 kinda falls right in between :P

thats the thing, i max out everything... maxed out or gtfo ( to the game or gpu ofc :x ) if u were to get a 1440p why run settings lower... better just get a 1080p and run everything maxed then.. ( or a better gpu )

A 390 would be a better option if you want to upgrade to 1440p and I would change that PSU
