Advice needed for GPU upgrade

I haven't been looking at GPUs for years now and I would like some advice on upgrading the GPU in my current system.

I bought my current GPU from a friend awhile ago, but I'm thinking about getting back into some newer games. (Thinking about GTA 5) I'm not sure that my current GPU will cut it. I already find it struggling with older titles like Saints Row 3. It even drops frames when trying to play back YouTube videos in 1080P 60FPS or at 4K.

 

Is a GPU upgrade even worth it? or is something else holding me back...

a GPU upgrade would be really good for that system , i might recommend something like an R9 280X/380.

I usually watch at 1080P. CPU usage is low when the videos are playing, unless I disable hardware acceleration in chrome. When hardware acceleration is disabled, videos play better but the CPU usage is high and it tends to ramp up the fans.

The GTX 750 ti is a good card for about 100 USD. Else you could go up to a GTX 980. These two cards are g8 OCers too if you know what you are doing.

 

If you arte confortable buying used than a r9 290x reference is selling for like 200 usd on eBay right now. It's easily the best bang 4 buck card.
