Sorry to bother you folks but I'm fairly new to the PC world. I recently received a PC from a friend of mine, the sounds works when I use an HDMI cable instead of VGA, but when I switch to VGA, I can't hear a sound from my monitor, speakers or headphones. I updated all the drives and even reinstalled realtek audio. Can You guys please help me out?

where are you plugging in the speakers/headphones? HDMI carries audio in it while VGA Does not. Plug your speakers/headphones into the pc itself if you are not. Also use HDMI dont use VGA

Unlike HDMI Vga doesn't carry audio signal so you have to use the audio output of your pc.If you use hdmi you can use the audio output of whatever it is connected to

VGA is really old tech from the 1980s. I'd listen to this guy and use HDMI instead ^

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.

The reason why I'm using a VGA monitor atm is that I still haven't bought a monitor that supports HDMI, I'm a broke college student so It has to wait and I plugged my speakers and headphones to their respective ports. I would post a pic of that realtek audio manger that keeps popping up, but I don't know how to  .
