Now as far as storage goes doesnt matter at all as I have no problem just moving them over to whichever one i choose. I will be gaming on it, recording, editing, rendering, unity and coding on it.

SIDE NOTE: Is there anything else I should move over to whichever computer I choose from the other?

SIDE SIDE NOTE: I'm well aware that those monitors "suck" Just not feeling the 2k+ jump to another monitor yet :/

I would just mash it together in the second build, keep the 5820k, SLI the two 780tis, put as many SSDs as you can in there etc

and then sell off the other bits or use the i7 rig as a server or something

I'd move all the storage from the 4790k rig and PSU to the 5820k and 780 Ti for SLI if your motherboard supports it. Then maybe sell the remains of the 4790k one.

Sure that would be a great idea, and then you can upgrade your monitors to 1440p 144hz or 4k

Although 780tis are mighty powerful, considering it wont cost you any money

Yeah I'm not sure what im going to be doing with the other rig but hope i can re purpose it :P

You must have a very large porn collection to need that much storage.

hmmm? :P

1TB and 2 4TB? That's kinda odd

Over time added more hard drives. never thought i would have needed  the amount I used.

I'm hoping to get a 980 Ti soon so thats the goal :P

Just curious on why the PSU? Is it that much better?

Move the 2 780 tis and the gold rated PSU to the X99 build. Keep whatever case you like the most, that's up to you, and sell the z97 build with the bronze PSU and no GPU. That's what i would do.

A bronze rated 750W PSU is not...adequate for an SLI X99 build, or even if you sell both and get a 980 ti, keep the better PSU for yourself

Any suggestions on a monitor that would have the same input lag (zero pretty much) as the ones i have now? thats 144hz? thats my main problem is finding that and it not being like a grand each. these being $250 each was a lot easier to swallow

Some of the new 144hz 1440p freesync panels, they are more than $250 but they are more like $500

then again I hate surround so I would just get one :D

you can get a crossover 27" 1440p ips panel on eBay for like 300usd, overclocks to 96-120hz depending on the lottery.

I believe that is 6ms and without gsync if im correct? so that would have a decent amount more of input lag :/

I believe that is 6ms and without gsync if im correct? so that would have a decent amount more of input lag :/

the actual response time manufactures specific mean nothing. You have to do actual input lag and ghosting tests yourself.

the cool thing about the crossover is that the dvi-only model has very low input lag as it does minimal processing compared to multi-input panels.

and no korean monitors have gysnc.

if i had to guess i would say you might notice the difference between monitors in a very competitive game like cs:go but most likely not in other games (gta v).

Is there any websites or youtubers or whoever that do input lag/testing for monitors that you know of? I couldnt find any when i searched. Never thought about the dvi only models having less input lag. But thats probably true :)

the dvi only ones are the only ones that can overclock.

i think tek syndicate did a review of the x-star panel. not sure if it was a good dvi-dl only model.

for the record, i don't think you would notice a difference in input lag compared to an asus panel. if anything you'd notice more ghosting aka motion blur.
