Hey Guys,

I have downloaded Windows 10 Professional Tech Preview ISO (didn't know it was a TP) and I was wondering how to change it to a full retail version because my product key won't work and I was told it would, using Windows Update it wouldn't install it due to not having enough memory or some shit like that.

  1. Open an elevated CMD prompt As admin

  2. Use the following command: slmgr.vbs -ipk "With your product key"

Apparantly my product key is invalid. That is annoying since it is a genuine key.

its named "insider preview" now btw

if you are not using build 10240 then you can download the media creation tool and upgrade with that  http://microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

if you are using build 10240 build then that is the retail version, with the only difference being that you will get beta builds in the future through windows update

you can opt out of that by going into settings > update and security > windows update > advanced options > stop insider builds

how about "slmgr.vbs -ato"?

I'll give it a try in a second. Just running the Creation Tool and hopefully that will change it to a full retail version and hopefully I can activate it. Unless I'm missing something can you use your existing genuine Windows 7 key?

you have to choose "upgrade" in the media creation tool in windows 7 if you want to do that

can you check your iso file, does it have a four digits number that starts with "9" or a 5 digits number that starts with "10"?

(for example my build 10074 build is named "Windows10_InsiderPreview_x64_EN-US_10074.io")

10041 also I'll choose the upgrade option but first I'm downloading the .ISO first.
