My desktop display is an older MVA panel that has good color and viewing angles but I want to upgrade it at some point. I also have TN panels at the office.  I was thinking along the lines of Acer XB270HU, or perhaps wait for a 3440x1440 equivalent with Gsync.

My laptop (Asus G751) has an IPS display, colors and contrast are good, but the viewing angles are not as good as I thought it would be, and I can really notice the "IPS glow" in dark scenes, and to a lesser degree in bright scenes.  Are all IPS displays like this?  If so, I think I would prefer a quality TN panel like the ROG Swift.  Colors might not be great, but I find for office work the TN panel is very easy to look at al day.  I think my laptops IPS panel would be very hard on my eyes for extended use.

What have you guys experienced?

IPS Glow? What do you mean by that?

A yellowish/whitish tint most prevalent during dark scenes.

It's a thing all IPS Panels have, it's like a shift between white/greys, a white kind of gloss over the screen on dark sections when you view it from an angle.

It isn't that noticeable most of the time, hasn't ever bothered me, but at extreme angles it certainly is visible, it's nothing like colour shift though, and no where near as bad.

Okay, Makes sense. I do notice that a lot on my ASUS panel, kind of annoying at times.

IPS glow is not the same as backlight bleed. It's a white haze that only appears at certain angle. Backlight bleed is independent of viewing angle.

Both of my IPS panels exhibit this, but it's corrected by viewing at a different angle. If your monitor is light around the edges then it is bleeding backlight.

I do get a little bit of that on my ASUS panel if the screen is completely black (or close to it) but not really too badly. I actually get none no matter what on the panel in my MacBook. is that just because of Apple's higher manufacturing quality?
